Testimonials

“The choice of speaker is given careful consideration – Jeryl Scurr was invited to talk on the sensitive subject of female weight, and her talk was entitled “Why is Fat (Still) a Feminist Issue?

Jeryl gave an excellent, well researched talk to the Sixth Form girls, and it was evident that the girls were interested in the content of the subject.

Jeryl was able to empathize with her audience at the same time as delivering a very clear and thought provoking discussion.

The success of her talk can be measured by the caliber of the questions the students raised.

From the talk I would wholeheartedly recommend Jeryl without reservation.

“Jeryl Scurr gave a talk to 40 members of Harpenden Probus Secundus Club on “The Obesity Crisis: Truth, Lies and Statistics.

It was a fascinating, enthusiastic and well-researched talk on the changing Western diet and its influence on our weight and health.

She spoke of the complex causes which help explain the obesity epidemic. These included the effects of weight stigma and low income as well as what she termed ‘the business of thin.”

-Colin Clark, Probus Club, Harpenden

“Jeryl recently gave a very insightful talk to 20 members of the St Albans’ Jewish Women’s Forum.

The discussion ranged across the spectrum of anorexia, bulimia and dieting and also focused on the Jewish cultural attitude to food, where all aspects of keeping up the religion seem to gravitate towards what we can and shouldn’t eat and the issues this creates.

The Q&A session at the end could have gone on for hours!”

-Jenny Taylor, Chairman, St Albans Jewish Women’s Forum
