National Obesity Forum -UK
Founded by health professionals and specialists in obesity, the Forum provides research backed evidence on obesity and pressures Government for robust obesity prevention programmes. It also supports fellow health professionals in dealing with obesity in patients.

The Centre for Appearance Research (CAR)
CAR is a research centre based at the University of the West of England in Bristol. Its members carry out psychological and interdisciplinary research in appearance, disfigurement, body image and related studies.

Lipoedema UK
This organisation is the UK charity seeking to raise knowledge and education, especially among health professionals. With lipoedema,” fat (often painful) accumulates below the waist and is out of proportion to your upper body”. Sufferers cannot lose this fat by dieting, and are all too often misdiagnosed.

Gurze Books
Provides books and videos about anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, other eating disorders, obesity, self-image, and size acceptance. Publisher of Eating Disorders Digest, a newsletter for professionals.

Pearlsong Press
Publisher of fat-friendly fiction & non-fiction including Fat Studies and poetry.

Elfrig Publishing
Interesting publisher with a varied list – worth browsing.

TED and TEDx Talks:
The famous and not so famous filmed as they speak out on a variety of topics, including fat stigma, dieting and body image. Don’t miss this one: “Why Thinking Ugly is Bad for You”.

It may seem obvious, but I have found relevant, moving and encouraging videos on YouTube covering body image, diets, dieting culture, eating disorders, fat stigma, body acceptance and much more.
